"My son, keep your father's [God-given] commandment and forsake not the law of [God] your mother [taught you].Bind them continually upon your heart and tie them about your neck.When you go, they [the words of your parents' God] shall lead you; when you sleep, they shall keep you; and when you waken, they shall talk with you._ (Amplified)"
Whatever you give your attention to will give you direction. This is one of the greatest principles of divine guidance.
If you give God your attention, God will give you His direction. If you give the Word of God your attention, the Word of God will give you direction.
Thus in learning to walk in divine guidance, we must learn to pay attention to God and His Word.
God exhorts us repeatedly to pay attention to His Word.
Proverbs 4:20
My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings.
But how can we pay attention to the Word?
We pay attention to the Word by reading it, studying and meditating on the Word day and night.
We pay attention to the Word by giving it the first place in our lives.
We also pay attention to the Word by speaking and practising the Word.
We enjoy divine direction as we pay attention to the Word of God.
To do well in life learn to pay attention to the written Word of God, to the Holy Spirit, to your recreated human spirit, and to the leading of the Spirit that you have received.
