"My son, keep your father's [God-given] commandment and forsake not the law of [God] your mother [taught you].Bind them continually upon your heart and tie them about your neck.When you go, they [the words of your parents' God] shall lead you; when you sleep, they shall keep you; and when you waken, they shall talk with you (Amplified)"
Whatever you give your attention to will give you direction. This is one of the greatest principles of divine guidance.
If you give God your attention, God will give you His direction. If you give the Word of God your attention, the Word of God will give you direction.
Thus in learning to walk in divine guidance, we must learn to pay attention to God and His Word.
Our text says ," keep God's commandments..." how ? By paying attention to the Word (commandments) of God.
"Bind them around your neck..."
How do you bind the Word of God around your neck? By thinking on it day and night, by paying attention to it always.
As you do this, the Word of God will lead you when you go out, keep you when you sleep, and talk to you when you are awake.
In essence, the Word of God will guide you always if you pay attention to it
To do well in life learn to pay attention to the written Word of God, to the Holy Spirit, to your recreated human spirit, and to the leading of the Spirit that you have received.
