To Honour His Name

According to our text for today, one reason God leads us by His Spirit is to honour His Name (for  His name's sake).

"...He leads me...for His name's sake..."

God leads us by His Spirit to bring honour to His Name . Our success in life  honours the Name of God.

Similarly our failures in life brings dishonour and shame to the  Name of the LORD because we bear His Name.

Therefore, in honour of His Name, He leads us always.

Psalms 23:3 (NLT)

He renews my strength. HE GUIDES me along right paths, BRINGING HONOR TO  HIS NAME.

Think about it, naturally speaking, one reason a father will guide his son is because his reputation or his name is at stake. He leads his son in honour of his name. 

Likewise God leads us in honour of His name. He is more eager to lead us by His Spirit  than we are eager to be led.

Every leading of the Spirit of God glorifies and honours the Name  of God.

Psalms 31:3

For You [are] my rock and my fortress;Therefore, FOR YOUR NAME'S SAKE, LEAD ME AND GUIDE ME.

Psalms 31:3 (NLT)

You are my rock and my fortress. FOR THE HONOR OF YOUR NAME, LEAD ME out of this danger.
