"Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God"
One reason God gave us the Holy Spirit is to help us know the things of God; to know the voice of God; know the ways of God and know the leading of the Spirit of God.
Hence getting to know the Person of the Holy Spirit better, will improve our abilities to discern the leading of the Spirit of God.
The Holy Spirit is not the spirit of fear. He does not produce fear in us and does not lead us by fear.
2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
God has not given us the spirit of fear. And we have not received the spirit of fear. Therefore, we do not have the spirit of fear.
Fear is not from God. It is from the devil. So if you are led by fear you are being led by the devil.
Hearing the voice of God does not produce fear. It produces faith and peace. For faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. (Romans 10 : 17).
Therefore, anything that breeds fear in us is not from the Spirit of God
Fearful thoughts do not come from God. They come from the devil. They are opposed to the leading of the Spirit of God.
Hence entertaining fearful thoughts is ignoring the leading of the Spirit of God. While ignoring fearful thoughts is following the leading of the Spirit of God.
