"I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me."
(NIV)
The LORD counsels us as we praise Him. In addition the counsels of God to us causes us to thank and praise Him.
The counsels of God are His leading or guidance for our good. This truth is made clearer to us as we read this verse from some other translations.
Psalms 16:7
I will BLESS THE LORD who GUIDES ME; even at night my heart instructs me.
In essence, the LORD guides me as I bless Him. Praising God positions us to receive divine guidance.
Receiving divine guidance on the other hand causes us to praise God more.
If you desire divine direction, praise God more. If you are enjoying divine direction, you should be praising God more for the directions that you are enjoying.
So, as we minister to the LORD we enjoy the abundance of divine guidance and as we walk in divine guidance we have more reasons to minister to Him.
There is a continuous cycle of ministering to the LORD and walking in divine guidance that compels our lives to move upward and forward.
Shalom
