"And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit"
Ephesians 5:18 (KJV)
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit.
In our text for today, the Spirit of God shows us that being drunk with wine in the natural is a type of being filled with the Spirit spiritually speaking.
What excess wine or alcohol does to a sinner negatively is a type of what the Spirit of God does to a believer positively.
For instance, when a man takes excess alcohol, the alcohol controls his life. Everything that he says and does is influenced by the alcohol.
Similarly when a believer is filled with the Spirit of God, everything he says and does is influenced by the the Holy Spirit.
Whatever fills your life will lead your life. If you are filled with alcohol, you will be led by alcohol.
If you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you will be led by the Holy Spirit.
Thus, Spirit led life is a natural consequence of Spirit filled life.
As we maintain a state of being filled with Spirit of God always, we will enjoy divine guidance always.
Shalom
